If you are into swimming then look no further than our facilities at GL1. We have four fantastic swimming pools, meaning that the whole family is catered for – so whether you’re a beginner, your children want a fun session or you’re a serious swimmer, we have the pool for you.
A bit more about our pools:
Barton Pool: our 8 lane, 25 metre competition swimming pool is regularly used for national and international competitions but the rest of the time it’s perfect for our local community to use. What’s more, the depth of the pool can be varied, depending on its use
Twyver Pool: our 4 lane, 25 metre pool is perfect for lane swimming and specialist sessions. It has a fixed depth of between 0.9 and 1.8 metres
Elver Pool: our shallow learner swimming pool where most of our children’s swimming lessons take place. When lessons are not taking place, it is also available for public use. Under 11s must be accompanied by an adult
Tad Pool: this is where the fun really happens. The fun pool with slide, bubble seat and water jets for under 11s when accompanied by an adult

This programme features swimming and lifesaving skills supported by water safety education, allowing participants to enjoy swimming as an activity, whilst promoting safety in or out of the water.
Each session is split with 25 minutes of practical application in the water and 20 minutes of theory in the classroom.
This is the perfect crash course activity for our older more able swimmers so participants need to be in Violet or above to take part in this course.
Our Snorkeltastic courses teach children to snorkel safely; using the (BSAC) Dolphin Snorkeller competency standards; by taking part they learn new skills, develop water confidence and have fun all whilst gaining an industry recognised badge and certificate.
These sessions are suitable for any child under 17 who can already confidently swim unaided for 2 lengths or are in our blue classes or above. Learn to snorkel the fun way, masks and snorkels included. Completion of the British Sub-Aqua Club Declaration of Medical Fitness is required prior to booking.
